International Mushroom Festival

The International Mushroom Festival takes place each autumn in order to educate people about foraging for edible wild mushrooms and teach them which ones are safe to eat and which are best avoided.

The aim is to give people the same confidence they have to hunt for edible mushrooms and they have picking wild blackberries. The festival attracts visitors to this beautiful but remote part of the North West of Ireland, so far largely undiscovered by tourists.

It also raises funds to save a precious piece of Irish heritage.
